Correspondence from Campaigner Maurice Nauta To David Cameron PM, sent 21/1/2015.
When we won a JR against our county council last July, you were quoted as saying “One of the great
things in our democracy is that Government have to act under the law and respond to public opinion
and pressure, and that is what is happening in Lincolnshire.” Except it isn’t. At next week’s meeting
on 27th January, the Council will debate a paper which prefers their own original plan despite very
strong public opinion against it. This is an example of government deciding what is best for us,
pushing through changes which aren’t supported. There are alternatives to be considered, but our
council have made it clear in their paper which they prefer. It is their own, which was quashed at the
JR. Will you intervene in the light of this? Edward Leigh has, and offers his full support in opposing
the Council’s plans.
